TRANSCOMUSTAHAN: Celebration of 2021 International Women’s Day

In celebration of the International Women’s Day on 8 March, TransCo Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System (GPFS) spearheaded a blended forum titled TransComustahan:  Celebration of 2021 International Women’s Day held at TransCo Multipurpose Hall and through MS Teams Virtual Conference.

Attended by almost 150 employees of TransCo, this special episode of TransComustahan featured pre-recorded talk from two health professional resource speakers who discussed women’s mental and physical health.

The first speaker Ms. Nina Q. Era, Adolescent and Family specialist, talked about women’s mental. She reiterated the importance of taking care of everyone’s mental health especially in time of the pandemic where women’s domestic work is doubled because of the implementation of community quarantine. She also  reminded everyone that seeking help is normal and that there is nothing wrong with it.

Cervical cancer was discussed by Dr. Clarizze Francesca Moje-Tapang, TransCo medical doctor. She also taught the participant on how to do breast self-examination which is an important way to find a breast cancer early, when it’s more likely to be treated successfully.

After playing the pre-recorded video of the speakers, participants were serenaded by Trip Ticket Band with participation of Ms Angelica Mae P. Malimban. They sang women empowering songs such as “Who Run The World (Girls)” by Beyonce, “Beautiful” by Christina Aguilera and more.
