TransCo conducts webinar on online gender-based violence, cybersafety

To prevent its personnel from falling prey to cyber-risks and online gender-based violence and in observance of National Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Month, TransCo held a webinar on online gender-based violence and cyber-safety on 22 June 2023.

The webinar, facilitated by Gender, Inclusive Development, and Participatory Media Consultant Ms. Gichelle Cruz, facilitated orientation of some 48 participants on how to identify potential ICT-related violations and online gender-based harassment.

During the webinar, the resource person shared the following ways on how to protect themselves online: (1) using multiple profiles; (2) reporting or blocking abusers; (3) avoiding geotagging; (4) prevent doxing; and (5) using a strong password.

Orientation on GAD Legal Mandates

On 8 June 2023, as part of its continuous capacity development session on Gender and Development (GAD), TransCo likewise held an orientation on GAD-related laws, including Republic Act (R.A.) No. 9710, or the Magna Carta of Women.

Aside from the GAD-related local statutes, the participants, which included TransCo staffers, security personnel, and utility personnel, were likewise oriented on GAD-related international commitments such as the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and the Beijing Platform for Action (BPFA).
